Description of Work
Salary Range: $37782 - $66120Reporting directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor II this primary purpose of this position is to install maintain alter and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Possessing working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of commercial plumbing as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade.
- Using power tools associated with plumbing trade cutting and threading pipe utilizing motorized and mechanical tools and familiar with building life and safety codes.
- Soldering copper pipe and utilizing the standard tools and materials required for those types of procedures.
- Making material list(s) for projects and submitting to supervisor for review.
- Making up lead joints and installing various types of plastic pipe also knowledge in replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures.
- Supervising semi-skilled male offenders and subject to emergency call back.
- Ensuring 24/7 staffing coverage by being scheduled to work weekends and holidays and any shift as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems
Based on the nature of work performed MAY require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase May result.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair replacement or construction of piping systems
