Position Summary

The University of Denvers Division of Community Support & Engagement (DCSE) is seeking an Associate Director for CommunityConnections and Engagementto join our team. The AD willhave a joint reporting reporting to the Director of Multifaith and Pluralistic Engagement the AD willassistin supporting the envisioning and implementation of initiatives and engagements that promote multi-faith resourcing and pluralistic engagements across the university. Jointly the AD will also report to the Director of Community Connections supporting the work of theCommunity Connections Team (CCT) who work to support faculty staff and students across the university.

The AD will work evenings and weekends as needed. This position is full-time 1.0 FTE.

The AD should embody both strong alignment with the Universitys values of inclusion innovation excellence integrity and education as well as a commitment to efficient and collaborative work.

Essential Functions

Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement:In support of the work of multifaith andpluralisticengagement the ADof CommunityConnectionsand Engagementwill:

  • Provide programmatic framing oversightand training for students as part of a renovated dialogue program. Work with units and departmentsthroughoutDU creating support structures for sustaineddialogthatengagestudentsacrossdifference.

  • Support the creation and implementation oftrainingscentering on pluralism in the academy and workforce for students and staff.

  • Cultivate collaborative work alongside practitioners across the university in the work ofpluralism including but not limitedtothe NationalAcademyofFreedomofExpressionand 4D.

  • Support the Director of Multifaith Engagement in creating cultivating and evaluating interfaith programming for faculty and staff.

  • Create connections with the Office of Spiritual Life and DCSE toward implementation of consistent services forall members of DUs religious spiritual and faith-basedcommunity.

  • Supportthisarea of work through platformutilizationofCrimsonConnectandsocial media apps.

  • Support Director of Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement inthe administration of assessment/evaluation for this area of work in alignment with divisional expectations and values.

  • Providegeneral supportfor the Director of Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement.

Community Connections Engagement:In support of the work of community connections the AD of Community Connections and Engagement will:

  • Support Student programming andinitiativesalongside the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.

  • Overseepurchasing inventory and inventory processes in support of affinity groups for faculty staff and students in collaborationwith the Assistant Vice Chancellor ofPartnershipsand Operations.

  • Oversee supply and material management for student level affinity groups.

  • Provide support and guidance for student level affinity groups alongside the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.

  • Create and implementtrainingsfor affinity group leadership in partnership with the Office of Student Engagementtoward preparing leadership for transition and implementation from year to year.

  • Support Director of Community Connections intheadministration of assessment/evaluation forthese areas of work in alignment with divisional expectations and values.

  • Develop implement and evaluate programs and services that connect students to faculty staff and alumni in ways that cultivate a sense of belonging to the wider DU community.

  • Support Director of Community Connections in developing a hub approach to student engagement with faculty staff and alumni in co-curricular spaces.

  • Develop and coordinate DCSE Ambassadors program.

  • Providegeneral supportfor the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.

Division of Community Support & Engagement Responsibilities

  • All members of the DCSE team support and engage with the DU community across constituency groups toward creating inclusive education and workspaces the work of dialogue pluralism and de-escalation in programmatic planning and implementation.

  • Manage DCSEs use of Crimson Connect.

  • Support DCSEinplanning andhostingsignature and large-scale events.

  • All other Division supportasneeded.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree from an accredited university program.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant education and/or work experience related to university processes and engagements.

  • Demonstrated ability toestablishand maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships withuniversitycommunities and organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement community programming events and to work productively with individuals across campus to make university events inclusive and successful.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability tomaintaina positive and productive working relationship with university and local communities

  • Three (3) years of experience working in areas of community engagement in higher education

  • Work experience in higher education or similar educational settings

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stresslevels aremoderate to high.
3. The noise level isfromquiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Common work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; however this position is available to use DUs flexible work schedule.Evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 10.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $60000-$70000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
