The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: NCs over 9000 certified wastewater operators composed of 13 different certification types protect our natural resources and human health from residential and commercial waste. This project will help to expand and improve operator training and study materials.
Major Task to be Performed: Develop online study guides for learning about operator regulations. Develop a plan and content for marketing and outreach to the future workforce: middle schools high schools 2 & 4 year colleges.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Publicly available Wastewater Operator Study Guide for Wastewater Operator Regulations and an outreach plan.

2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
Ability to distill complex information into manageable sized study guides to help operators understand subject matter and prepare for exams. An understanding of study strategies and outcomes.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
