Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proof of high school graduationor certified GED required.
- Must possess a current Texas Peace OfficerIntermediate Certificate issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement(TCOLE); Texas Peace Officer Advanced Certificate preferred.
- Must have at least five (5) years of lawenforcement experience; previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Consideration will not be given to a TCOLElicense or license from another state with a GeneralDischargeDishonorable Dischargeor the equivalent notationfrom previous law enforcement jobs.
- Valid Texas drivers license with acceptabledrivers record.
- Ability to work effectively with youth as well asadults.
- Must be able to work day evening or night shift with days off as assigned.
Must show negative on a drug and/or alcohol test to be given on a pre-employment random post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion basis in accordance with federal law and District policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide day to day direction tothe Police Department.
- Provide direct supervision toPolice Department employees.
- Evaluate the performance of PoliceDepartment employees.
- Review daily work schedules forpolice officers to ensure maximum campus and District coverage withexisting manpower.
- Assist with the interviewsrecommendations training supervision and evaluation of members of thePolice Department.
- Coordinate annual in-servicetraining and firearms qualifications for police officers.
- Coordinate the work of the PoliceDepartment with building principals other departments and Districtadministrators.
- Provide immediate response tocrisis situations when called by principals.
- Assist building administratorswith individual campus security planning.
- Assist principals otherdepartments and administrators with security management and operationalprocedures for crisis situations.
- Secure police officers for specialevents when requested.
- Assign officers to provide trafficcontrol in school zones and at District events.
- Assist in developing andmaintaining a comprehensive District plan for the protection of studentsstaff and facilities.
- Coordinate work of the Districtalarm system provider resolving problems and making recommendations forimproved services.
- Investigate the use of deterrentdevices and systems to ensure safety in the schools.
- Assist in maintaining a District-wideCrisis Management plan.
- Provide personal protectioncampus safety and crime prevention in-service for District staff studentsand parents.
- Maintain plan to increaseeffectiveness of deterrence activities.
- Participate in community taskforce groups to gather and share information.
- Produce and distribute periodicreports of Police Department activities and services provided.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Tools/Equipment Used: district vehicle firearms handcuffs two-way radio alarm system and other security equipment fire extinguisher and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.
- Posture: prolonged sitting and standing.
- Motion: strenuous walking and climbing; frequent keyboarding/mouse prolonged driving.
- Lifting: moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds) 10-50 pounds frequently; 50-100 pounds occasionally.
- Environment: work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather) moderate exposure to noise frequent district-wide travel.
- Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; ability to restrain resistant persons; ability to remove resistant persons with violent behavior.
- Mental Demands: maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged hours; ability to work shifts including rotating shifts/days off; may be on call 24 hours per day.
