A welcoming inclusive and community-focused primary school in North London is seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant you will work across Nursery and/or Reception classes supporting children aged 35 during a crucial stage of their development. You will assist the class teacher in delivering engaging play-based learning activities that promote early literacy numeracy communication and social development.
You will also provide targeted support for pupils who require additional help with language development emotional regulation or early learning skills. This may include one-to-one support small group interventions and assistance with routines and transitions throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities as an EYFS Teaching Assistant will include:
Supporting the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured activities
Assisting with phonics early reading mark-making and number work
Supporting childrens communication and language development
Providing individual support to pupils with additional needs including SEND
Supporting emotional development behaviour and social interaction
Helping children develop independence with personal care routines and self-help skills
Observing recording and contributing to assessments of childrens progress
Supporting indoor and outdoor learning activities
Creating a safe stimulating and inclusive learning environment
Working collaboratively with teachers SEN staff and parents
Supporting safeguarding health and safety procedures at all times
The school is looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant who demonstrates:
Previous experience working within an EYFS setting (school or nursery)
A sound understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
A warm patient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
The ability to support a range of learning and emotional needs
A proactive and flexible attitude
The following would be desirable but not essential:
Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification
Experience supporting children with SEND in EYFS
Phonics knowledge (Read Write Inc Letters and Sounds or similar)
