About the role
The General Manager Care Governance & Safeguarding is a pivotal leadership role responsible for directing and oversighting selectabilitys second-line monitoring function aligned to the organisations purpose and values. The role reinforces our organisational commitment to safe effective person-centre care and champions care and quality governance frameworks systems of risk management and assurance activities through a safeguarding lens and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- leading directing and mentoring the care governance and safeguarding team fostering a supportive work environment that promotes open communication innovative thinking and a proactive problem-solving
- implementing and maturing organisation-wide Care & Quality Governance Framework/s
- championing a culture of innovation learning and continuous improvement
- embedding the enterprise risk management strategy and framework including oversight of the enterprise risk management function
- developing and maturing over time data analysis and reporting mechanisms to support and inform timely risk management and continuous improvement
- monitoring and reporting on care-related risks safeguarding matters quality performance and indicators providing routine reporting to executive leadership and the Board
- monitoring and reporting the outcomes of second-line assurance activities through design implementation and maturity of the Quality Audit Schedule
- championing the implementation and of the Governance Risk and Compliance information system Riskonnect.
- supporting the organisation to prepare for quality accreditation audits
- advising on and leading incident investigations where appropriate matters resulted to abuse neglect and exploitation and/or safeguarding principles
- contributing to strategic leadership and operational planning across selectability including championing projects and change programs within the scope of the role
- providing expert advice to the Executive Team on care governance quality systems and the accreditation and regulatory landscape in which we operate focussing on a proactive and contemporary approach to Quality and Safeguarding practices
About you
To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:
- demonstrated experience in planning establishing and implementing contemporary care governance and/or quality management systems and strategies within a complex health context
- experience in leading change and/or continuous improvement programs of work including care governance and/or clinical process improvement capabilities
- demonstrated knowledge of regulatory environment applicable to community health context including NDIS practice standards Aged Care Quality Standards and/or Human Services Framework
- highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to compile analyse data and prepare reports.
- ability to identify systems gaps and develop strategies and plans to rectify
- advanced interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to influence and create trust across senior level stakeholders and multi-disciplinary care delivery teams
- highly developed prioritisation skills with a proven ability to manage workload to achieve business outcomes
- ability to work with ambiguity conflicting priorities and competing needs and time pressured environments
- strong ethical values and a genuine commitment to the mission and values of the organisation
Role requirements
- minimum 5 years experience in a senior leadership position
- an appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- out of hours work may be required from time to time
- travel to selectability sites may be required from time to time
- a Child Safety & Personal History Screening check
- a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Quality Safety & You completion certificate (or the ability to obtain)
- a current minimum P1 C class Queensland drivers licence
