The SMU Mathematics Department invites applications for a Starr Visiting Assistant Professorship position number starting August 1st 2026. This is a two-year position with a two courses per semester teaching load.
SMU is a private nonsectarian university of about 12000 students located four miles north of downtown Dallas. The mathematics department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in mathematics as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computational and applied mathematics. Current research includes numerical analysis of ordinary and partial differential equations dynamical systems data science and mathematical biology with applications to neuroscience fluid mechanics geosciences nonlinear optics and social sciences.
A PhD in mathematical sciences is required. The successful applicant will have research interests that closely match the research in the department.
