The Die Quality Technician is responsible for collecting and analyzing data from extrusion samples to ensure all extruded aluminum meets company quality guidelines and customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.
- Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
- Develop and utilize accurate user-friendly programs on the Smartscope to help verify extruded product in order to meet customer quality requirements
- Work closely with extrusion press employees to retrieve data in order to improve processes and procedures
- Verify compliance of the extrusion department to specified control plans
- Maintain the calibration system to include equipment tracking calibration scheduling and overall calibration maintenance
- Collect and analyze data to assist with proper die corrections
- Keep work area clean and orderly using 5S (standardize sustain sort set in order and shine)
- Continuously cross-train within the Die Shop to grow and develop skills and to be able to assist in other areas when necessary
- Conduct all processes and procedures in accordance with department key measures
- Ensure all quality practices are being followed accurately and efficiently
- Communicate Alexandria Industries requirements and capabilities with vendors and customers
- Read and analyze customer blueprint specifications to understand product requirements
- Use necessary measurement equipment to ensure that parts extruded meet customer specifications; maintain proper and accurate test results records
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent degree
- Experience:
- 1 years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Other required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills (Outlook Excel Word PowerPoint)
- Recognize and take action on safety concerns
- Utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated area
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Strong coordination and judgment skills
- Basic math skills
- Interpret blueprints die drawings inspect parts and surface finish according to customer specifications
- Good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Effectively work in a team environment
- Participate in additional training as needed
- Perform and assist with preventive maintenance
- Strong communication skills problem solver multi-tasker
- Properly identify key die & tooling components
