The Opportunity

This role supports power and environmental product trading through market analysis portfolio management and compliance activities. Youll collaborate with traders to provide pricing execute transactions in Alberta TIER and REC markets and develop strategies to optimize portfolio performance.

What Youll Do

Analyze market fundamentals price drivers and policy developments to support trading decisions and strategic planning.
Maintain accurate portfolio positions for power and environmental products managing compliance and voluntary exposures
Support execution transactions in Alberta TIER compliance markets and renewable energy credit (REC) markets.
Collaborate with trading desk to provide electricity pricing for end use customers.
Develop growth strategies for the power retail and hedging books.
Prepare market reports forecasts and customer proposals for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with traders and internal teams to identify opportunities and optimize portfolio performance.
Support compliance and voluntary emissions transactions as needed.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers counterparties and internal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Finance Business Engineering Economics or related field.
Minimum 35 years of experience in power marketing emissions trading or related energy markets.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel (Python or other analytics tools a plus).
Knowledge of Alberta power market fundamentals and carbon compliance programs.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing market conditions.
Self-motivated and results-driven.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (MBA Finance Engineering or similar) considered an asset.
Experience with ETRM systems and data analytics tools.
Familiarity with Alberta power market and environmental compliance programs.
