Job Summary
DFMEA Specialist
Location: Bengalore
Exp: 5Yrs
The DFMEA Specialist will be responsible for conducting DFMEA for mechanical components within ECU systems. This role ensures robust design practices identifies potential failure modes early and mitigates risks to meet OEM standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform DFMEA for mechanical components of ECU assemblies (e.g. housings connectors brackets thermal interfaces).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design CAE Validation Manufacturing) to identify and assess potential failure modes.
- Define severity occurrence and detection ratings; calculate Risk Priority Numbers (RPN) and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain DFMEA documentation and ensure alignment with OEM and industry standards (e.g. ARAI ISO 26262 for functional safety).
- Support design reviews engineering change management and lessons-learned integration into foundation DFMEAs.
- Work closely with suppliers and customers for vehicle-level FMEA coordination when required.
- Utilize tools such as Polarion DOORS ALM and DFMEA templates for systematic analysis.
- Ensure compliance with program milestones (Design Freeze Tooling Release Production Readiness) and DFMEA maturity targets.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience in DFMEA for automotive mechanical components.
- Strong understanding of ECU mechanical design principles thermal management and ingress protection.
- Proficiency in DFMEA methodology and tools; knowledge of CAD/CAE (NX ANSYS) preferred.
- Familiarity with automotive standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical documentation and communication skills.
Experience:
- Experience with structural vibration and thermal simulations for ECU housings.
- Knowledge of PPAP APQP and quality management systems.
