The Revenue & Regulatory Law Section (the Section) is the largest section in the DOL and provides legal advice and litigation services to nearly 100 state agencies divisions ombudsmen boards and commissions including the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) the Department of Professions and Occupations (DPO) Department of Agriculture and Department of Revenue (DOR). The Section provides supervision of all attorneys and classified personnel through the Deputy Attorney Tax & Public Finance Unit (TPF Unit) that you would be supporting resides within the Revenue & Regulatory Law section.
The TPF Unit represents the Department of Revenue on all state tax matters including litigation of and advice on corporate income tax sales and use tax and tax on the severance of nonrenewable resources among others. The TPF Unit works to ensure that taxpayers including sophisticated national and international businesses comply with the state tax code. The Unit also provides legal advice to many state agencies and officials in addition to the Department of Revenueincluding the Governor and the State Controller on tax and public finance issues.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position provides a full array of administrative and legal support to Unit attorneys and paralegal by creating and producing correspondence pleadings and reports through the use of a computerized word processing system proofreading documents assisting with hearing preparation court filings document management and archiving of legal cases. This position maintains case status reports; creates maintains and closes files; enters case information in Prolaw and ensures that urgent matters are promptly referred to the appropriate attorney or legal assistant. Electronically files with the court upon request makes minimal travel arrangements (car reservations); and ensures that urgent matters are promptly referred to the appropriate attorney.

This recruitment may be used to fill more than one Administrative Assistant II positions in the Revenue & Regulatory Law section.

Salarynote: Although a salary range is listed salary will be setcommensuratewith the successful candidates qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Please document all relevant experience in detail on your application. Experience will not be inferred or assumed. Any part-time experience listed will be prorated.

Experience Only:
Two (2) years of general clerical/office support experience as the primary function of the job.

OR

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in general clerical/office supportas the primary function of the job equal to two (2) years.

If qualifying under the substitution you will be required to provide a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.

Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Applicants must pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment.

  • Applicant must also pass a Colorado state income tax check performed by the Colorado Department of Revenue and show that they have filed and do not owe any back taxes for the past three tax years.

  • The Revenue & Regulatory Law section offers flexible work arrangements. This position is expected to work in-office 3 days a week. Please note flexible work arrangements may change at any time based on business needs.
