Job Summary:
To provide high quality healthcare through the provision of medical nutrition therapy in a variety of settings to meet the needs of patients their families and other healthcare professionals. To serve our bariatric surgical and metabolic weight loss patients through nutritional education and dietary counseling as an important member of our multidisciplinary bariatric and metabolic services team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of an ADA approved Dietetic Internship Program.
Experience: Previous experience working with a multidisciplinary bariatric surgical program is strongly encouraged.
Licensure/Certification:Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and must have active SC Licensed Registered Dietician (SC LLR).
Primary Source Verification: and for positions in WIC.
Knowledge/Skills: Assess patients nutritional needs and develop and implement plans and goals for nutritional care. Ability to evaluate and assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of nutritional therapy. Ability to provide education and/or consultation of patients family and other healthcare professionals. Ability to communicate with the healthcare team information that impacts patient care. Conducts diabetes self-management education according to best practices in both individual and group setting. Coordinates care collects diabetes data and serves as a diabetes resource to healthcare team.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and procedures and to communicate clearly.
Other: Responsible for professional growth and development functions as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary care team utilizes evidence based practice to guide the provision of care. Responsible for mentoring/precepting dietetic interns as assigned. Participates in health fairs and other community activities that promote health wellness and CareAlliance Health Services. Serves as a resource for compliance with modified diets through direct and indirect interaction with the diet office.
