The role

We are looking for a Material Engineer for a Roads and Highways project based in Kuchlak Balochistan Pakistan. The candidate must have experience in supervising and testing construction materials on highway or similar infrastructure projects to ensure quality standards and compliance with project specifications.

  • Assist in ensuring the quality of construction materials through field and laboratory testing.
  • Certify material acceptance based on recommended specifications.
  • Identify and evaluate sources of materials including quarries and borrow areas.
  • Define and implement material testing procedures and specifications.
  • Verify suitability and availability of materials for earthwork and pavement.
  • Prepare mass haul diagrams indicating quarry locations and estimated quantities.
  • Review and approve material test reports submitted by contractors or laboratories.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams to resolve material related issues.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all material tests certifications and approvals for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with AASHTO ASTM and NHA specifications and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to project safety and environmental regulations during material sourcing and testing.

With a track record of achievement in a related role you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.

Suitable applicants will have/be:

  • Tertiary qualifications: Bachelors in Geology/Civil Engineering or preferably Masters in (Geology/Geo-Technical/Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of overall experience including at least 8 years of relevant experience as a Material Engineer on Highway projects.
  • Expertise in asphalt concrete mix design material testing and pavement formation.
  • Strong knowledge of construction codes and standards (AASHTO ASTM NHA).
  • Ability to manage testing procedures and certify material quality.
