Job Summary
Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
This position supports a temporary Medical Surgical / Telemetry overflow unit created to accommodate emergency department boarder patients. The unit is a flexible care space and patient census may fluctuate based on demand. The LPN/LVN will work under the supervision of an RN providing direct patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Schedule & Coverage
Day shifts: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
Weekend coverage: Every other weekend
Call: May be required based on staffing needs
Floating: Required within scope of practice to Medical Surgical patients
Licensure & Certifications
Active LPN/LVN license (state-specific)
BLS certification required
Pending licenses not accepted
Experience Requirements
Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry experience required
Previous charge experience preferred
First-time travelers accepted
Clinical Skills & Competencies
Medical Surgical and Telemetry patient care
Emergency Department exposure preferred
Blood glucose monitoring and testing
Foley catheter insertion (male and female)
Feeding tube NG tube and G-tube care
Medication administration: oral IM SQ eye/ear drops
Oxygen therapy (nasal cannula face mask)
Vital signs monitoring and documentation
Patient ambulation and hygiene care
Isolation precautions
Admission and transfer support
Clear communication of patient status changes to RN/MD
Documentation & Communication
EPIC EMR experience required
SBAR communication utilized for ED patients
Verbal handoff expected for other admissions and transfers
