Job Description

The College Transitions & PSEO Advisor serves as the one-go to college liaison at assigned Rochester Public School (RPS) locations integration the functions of PSEO Concurrent Enrollment and general college transition advising. This position provides comprehensive enrollment support and fosters deeper collaborative relationships with RPS staff and underrepresented students ensuring seamless transition and alignment with the goals of Equity 2030.

Responsibilities:

  • Advisement registration and retention.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships and outreach.
  • Program compliance and operational support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

$25.67 - $37.26 hourly

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of professional level experience in student services working with underrepresented populations. A bachelors degree may substitute for 1 year of experience an associates degree may substitute for 6 month experience.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to provide prompt welcoming courteous and accurate information to stakeholders in person on the phone and through email and other written correspondence.
  • Communications skills sufficient to speaking reading and writing English and the ability to develop synthesize and present information to individuals and groups.
  • Leadership skills sufficient to create programming organize programming offer programming collaborate analyze information and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work closely with students to develop relationships characterized by open communication and helping students progress to enrollment and completion of degree.
  • Ability to understand and explain the educational and academic requirements necessary to be prepared for college level work.
  • Physical Demands sufficient to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs occasionally stand for long periods of time be able to sit for long periods of time manual dexterity required for frequent keying.

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Knowledge and skill in specialized terminology and admissions terminology sufficient to lead people through the prospective admitted and enrolling student life cycle stages and respond to questions from customers.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State system and program offerings.
  • Knowledge of RCTC policies procedures and programs.
  • Experience working with diverse clientele.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the cycle of poverty working with first generation college students and students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and appropriate use of software systems including but not limited to enrollment management and Microsoft office suite.
  • Knowledge of community organizations and leaders serving underrepresented populations.
