The Financial Counseling Coordinator serves as the primary resource for the financial counseling team providing leadership and advanced support.
Job Responsibilities:
-Include coordinating Financial Counseling team coverage training and mentoring ensuring compliance with organizational standards for conducting patient assessments for Medicaid eligibility marketplace insurance and Financial Assistance along with creating accurate patient estimates and collecting prepayments.
-The coordinator collaborates on the development review and updates of policies and procedures to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
-Additionally the Coordinator leads team huddles to communicate updates address challenges and foster team engagement.
-Travel between hospital locations for training and support purposes is required.
-To assist with ensuring accurate and timely execution of the responsibilities among designated staff consistent with hospital standards policies procedures operational goals and objectives.
-Provides progressive leadership and training to Financial Counselors and assists with the programs promoting continual quality improvement and corporate compliance.
-Other duties as assigned.
--QUALITY:
-Promotes continual quality improvement by randomly auditing daily reporting and staff activity.
-Works with related organizations and vendors where applicable to address and resolve patient financial activities problems and issues.
--COUNSELING:
-Assists Financial Counselors with exceptional or problematic cases for optional resolution or processing options.
-Cross trains and provides backup coverage for all Financial Counselor positions to ensure adequate Financial Counselor coverage for all areas within department.
--COMMUNICATION:
-Respond to staff questions or requests for guidance in processing ongoing work and participate in or leads staff training as directed.
-Interacts with and provides timely and clear feedback to management interacting with departments and other operational areas regarding issues findings and observations.
--STAFFING:
-Provides input to manager regarding staff performance professional conduct or for new or updated documentation.
-Assists in the preparation of objective annual performance evaluations for staff based on a set of predetermined measures or standards monitored by department head review.
-Coordinates area staffing and backup coverage as directed by manager or supervisor including timecard management staff scheduling PTO requests and call ins.
--WORK QUEUES/WORKFLOW:
-Ensures all Epic work queues are worked timely.
-Understands Financial Assistance application workflow and assists in timely turnaround of processing applications.
-Monitors applicable Financial Counselor work queues to ensure that all initial patient financial activities have been completed that account balances that have not been previously secured through insurance verification and that other confirmed subsidy sources are addressed in a timely manner.
--POLICIES/PROCEDURES:
-Stay current on all regulatory updates and policies/procedures changes pertaining to Certification Application Counselors at Froedtert Health.
-Adhere to all state and federal regulations along with Froedtert policies/procedures pertaining to the Certified Application Counselor responsibilities.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience:
-Knowledge gained through at least seven (7) - ten (10) years of focused experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-Experience using computerized billing systems in the service industry.
-Experience in social work or case management.
-Microsoft Word Excel and other software programs.
Keywords:

-Bachelors degree in Business Management Social Work or related field is required.
-In lieu of degree a High School or GED.

Required Certifications & Licensure:
