The Director of Community Education Programs Adult will develop manage and implement the Needham Community Education adult education programs. The Director will work to maintain manage and promote existing offerings while working to expand programming to meet the needs of all students.

Responsibilities

Program Development: identifying and curating a broad array of programs to appeal to adult community members with varying interests and availability; recruiting hiring and supervising teachers and outside vendors

Program Execution: preparing contracts with teachers and vendors; communicating with teachers and vendors about course descriptions schedules and policies; scheduling spaces and arranging for supplies and equipment; providing on-site presence to welcome instructors and participants and to troubleshoot especially at the beginning of each class session; making final decisions about class cancellations due to low enrolment and/or circumstances beyond our control; developing positive working relationships with school administrators classroom teachers specialists support staff and community members

Marketing: writing copy for brochures informational materials email blasts website updates and promotional items for newspapers and school bulletins; editing proofing and preparing mailings; distributing marketing materials; promoting programs by speaking with community and school groups

Customer Service: maintaining a positive relationship with staff and community members; responding promptly and professionally to inquiries; executing registration and participation systems that create a welcoming atmosphere to a range of students

Development and Monitoring of Budgets: developing annual and seasonal budget by program area; monitoring budget carefully; working with accounting staff to ensure that financial procedures are followed

Program Evaluation: collecting data that contributes to quality assessments and decisions about future planning (data to include enrollments demographics course evaluations and programming requests)

Planning and Program Improvement: working with NCE team to analyze combined data conduct research and inquiry as needed to improve all aspects of community programs; working with NCE team to develop goals objectives and strategies for the department as a whole and for targeted program areas

All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or higher degree
  • Minimum of two years of direct experience in planning project development and/or community programming
  • Expertise in educational needs assessment and program planning
  • Experience with budget development and management
  • Linkages with community organizations desirable

Reports to: Director of Strategic Planning and Community Engagement

Salary:

$78039 - $89228 (Independent Contract Grade G) commensurate with applicable experience and subject to annual cost of living adjustments.

FLSA: Exempt

Work Hours: .80 FTE (28 hours per week) through the school year (including some evenings and weekends as needed); 5-days per week
