Responsibilities

- Oversee patient assessments vital signs monitoring and comprehensive physical examinations to develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications injections IV infusions catheter care and manage ventilator or airway needs following sterile techniques and aseptic procedures.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests medical imaging spinal taps and cardiac catheterizations while ensuring proper documentation in EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with NCQA standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead discharge planning case management and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
- Manage infection control protocols sterile processing procedures and implement infection prevention strategies across the unit.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations such as acute pain management or airway management scenarios within Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians in specialties like hospital medicine pediatrics neonatal intensive care (NICU) or adult ICU settings.
- Maintain professional development through ongoing education on ICD-9/10 coding CPT coding DME management and other relevant clinical practices.
Skills
- Extensive clinical experience in acute care settings such as ICU emergency medicine or trauma centers; experience with Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner Epic eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management.
- Strong leadership skills demonstrated through supervising experience and nurse management capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology physiology anatomy pharmacology related to medication administration and pain management.
- Skilled in performing venipuncture (phlebotomy) IV insertion/infusion techniques catheterization (urinary or central lines) suturing and sterile processing procedures.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and diagnostic evaluation interpretation.
- Familiarity with specialized areas such as dementia/Alzheimers/memory care; behavioral health; pediatric/neonatal/ Toddler care; geriatrics; assisted living; home care; occupational health; or neonatal ventilator management is advantageous.
- Competence in managing complex cases involving ICU patients or patients with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized nursing interventions.
