Were looking for an experienced Primary Design Engineer to join our Design Team working on Zone Substation projects across sub-transmission and distribution networks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical depth and mentoring others takes pride in quality and wants their work to have real visible impact.

Youll play a key role in delivering safe high-quality Zone Substation designs while supporting others to succeed.

Your work will include:

• Designing and delivering Zone Substation primary designs including earthing and cable rating studies
• Producing and maintaining your own AutoCAD drafting for new and upgrade works
• Preparing design documentation that meets Jemena Standards Australian Standards and regulatory requirements
• Reviewing external DSP designs and providing constructive solutions-focused feedback
• Partnering closely with Asset Managers Project Managers Construction Managers and DSPs to enable smooth project delivery
• Providing engineering design and commissioning support to internal teams and subcontractors
• Auditing approving and signing off designs with confidence and care
• Investigating and proposing practical solutions to sub-transmission and distribution challenges within Zone Substations
• Managing revising and updating Zone Substation drawings and documentation based on field feedback
• Coordinating external drafting resources when required to support delivery timelines
• Supporting estimates scopes specifications and early design development
• Mentoring and developing team members contributing to a positive capable and connected team culture

Your experience & qualifications

• Engineering qualifications eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent)
• Solid experience in Primary design for Zone Substations
• Strong knowledge of primary plant and equipment up to 66kV
• Experience producing clear logical drawings that communicate design intent
• Familiarity with primary design tools such as AutoCAD CYMCAP CDEGS drawBRIDGE (or similar)
• Understanding of sub-transmission and distribution systems and zone substation operations
