The University of Miami Health System UHealth IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time IT Security Associate to work on site in Miami.

The IT Security Associate serves as part of the Universitys 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is designed for individuals at the beginning of their cybersecurity career who are eager to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced analysts. The Associate assists in monitoring investigating and responding to security incidents while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitors security alerts and events from SIEM and other security tools.

  • Assistswithinitialtriage and analysis of security incidents.

  • Escalates confirmed or high-risk threats to senior analysts or incident response teams.

  • Documentsincidents investigations and response actions in ticketing systems.

  • Assistsin tuning detection rules and improving alert fidelity.

  • Supports vulnerability management and threat intelligence initiatives.

  • Participates in shift rotations including nights weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Maintains awareness of current threat landscape and attack techniques.

  • Follows established playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Contributes to continuous improvement of SOC processes and documentation.

  • Assistswithaccessverification and identity management tasks including password resets.

  • Operatesin a 24/7 environment; shift work isrequired.

  • Participates in on-call rotations or emergencyresponseas needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures andsafeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting security incidents.

  • Operate in a 24/7 environment; shift work is required.

  • May require participation in on-call rotations or emergency response.

  • Responsible for security identity verifications.

  • Responsible for updating ticketing system.

  • Ability to triage investigate and report on security alerts.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in relevant field

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures technologies and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software technology and relevant computer applications.

  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education experience and/or certifications may be considered.
