The ANZ Projects Leader will oversee a diverse portfolio of technically complex projects including Naval power systems Synchronous Condensers STATCOMs and FACTS solutions High Current Rectifiers Static Frequency Converters (SFC) Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) power systems Datacenter Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). These projects often involve multiple stakeholders strict regulatory and grid compliance requirements and demanding performance quality and reliability expectations.

  • Key Responsibilities

Regional Project Execution Leadership

The role is accountable for providing overall leadership and governance for all projects executed within the ANZ region. This includes establishing clear execution strategies aligned with contractual obligations business objectives and customer expectations. The ANZ Projects Leader ensures that project teams operate with discipline accountability and transparency across all phases of the project lifecycle.

The position serves as the single point of accountability for project performance encompassing safety quality schedule cost risk and customer satisfaction. Close coordination with engineering supply chain construction commissioning finance legal and sales teams is essential to ensure seamless execution and alignment across functions.

EPCC Mindset and Execution Excellence

The ANZ Projects Leader is responsible for embedding and driving a strong EPCC mindset across the regional project organization. This includes ensuring that engineering deliverables are mature and constructible procurement strategies are aligned with schedule and risk profiles construction activities are properly planned and controlled and commissioning and handover are executed in a structured and compliant manner.

The role ensures that robust project execution plans baseline schedules cost forecasts and resource plans are established at the outset of each project. Particular focus is placed on managing interfaces between internal teams OEMs EPC partners subcontractors utilities and customers minimizing execution gaps and claims exposure.

Commercial Financial and Margin Accountability

The ANZ Projects Leader carries full responsibility for the commercial and financial performance of the regional project portfolio. This includes ownership of revenue recognition cash flow cost control forecasting accuracy and margin protection.

The role proactively identifies and manages commercial risks variations and claims ensuring that contractual entitlements are preserved and enforced. Strong collaboration with finance legal and sales teams is required to ensure that contractual terms are clearly understood and effectively executed. Early-warning mechanisms are implemented to detect deviations in cost or schedule allowing corrective actions to be taken before margins are impacted.

Technical Oversight and Industry Compliance

While not a detailed design role the ANZ Projects Leader provides senior technical oversight to ensure that all projects comply with applicable engineering standards grid codes defense requirements and regulatory frameworks within the ANZ region.

The role ensures that complex technologies such as grid stabilization systems FACTS devices high-power industrial systems and renewable energy solutions are executed with technical rigor reliability and long-term operability in mind. Coordination with engineering authorities and subject matter experts is essential to manage technical risk and ensure performance guarantees are met.

Standardization LEAN and Six Sigma Implementation

A core responsibility of the role is to establish and enforce standardized project execution methodologies across the ANZ region. This includes the development and deployment of common governance structures templates tools and performance metrics to improve predictability and execution quality.

The ANZ Projects Leader actively applies LEAN principles to eliminate waste reduce cycle times and improve workflow efficiency. Six Sigma methodologies are used to reduce defects rework and non-conformances particularly in engineering procurement and construction processes. Lessons learned are systematically captured and translated into continuous improvement actions across the project portfolio.

Risk Quality and HSE Leadership

The role champions a zero-harm safety culture and ensures strict compliance with all health safety and environmental regulations as well as company policies. The ANZ Projects Leader ensures that safety is fully integrated into project planning and execution not treated as a compliance activity alone.

Execution risks technical commercial schedule and logistics are identified early and actively managed through structured risk registers and mitigation plans. Quality assurance and quality control processes are enforced throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that deliverables meet contractual and regulatory requirements and reduce the risk of late-stage rework or disputes.

Team Development and Regional Capability Building

A critical aspect of the role is building developing and sustaining a strong regional project execution team. The ANZ Projects Leader defines clear roles responsibilities and performance expectations ensuring accountability at all levels of the organization.

The role actively mentors project managers and key talent developing capability in project governance commercial acumen technical understanding and leadership skills. Succession planning and long-term capability development are integral to ensuring sustainable growth and execution excellence in the ANZ region.

Customer and Stakeholder Management

The ANZ Projects Leader acts as a senior interface with customers utilities defense authorities regulators and strategic partners. The role ensures open transparent and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle particularly when managing changes risks or issues. Customer satisfaction is a primary success measure. The role ensures that projects are handed over with full documentation training and performance validation leaving the customer confident in the delivered solution and the long-term partnership.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering degree (Electrical / Power Systems preferred); MBA or Project Management certification is a plus

  • 15 years experience delivering complex power industrial or energy infrastructure projects

  • Proven leadership in EPCC project environments

  • Strong experience in FACTS Power Conversion & Storage Grid systems Industrial power renewables or defense projects

  • Demonstrated success in commercial management and margin protection

  • LEAN / Six Sigma certification or strong practical application experience preferred
