Country Business HeadRole OverviewA global maritime transportation organisation is appointing a Country Business Head to lead and grow its Indonesia operations. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for commercial performance profitability and country execution.The successful candidate will take ownership of the country business driving sustainable growth operational effectiveness and strong customer relationships while ensuring compliance with local regulations and alignment with regional and global objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesCountry Leadership & P&L Ownership- Assume full responsibility for the countrys profit and loss including revenue growth cost control and working capital management.
- Lead annual budgeting forecasting and performance reviews against defined commercial and operational targets.
- Ensure the country business operates efficiently profitably and in line with agreed strategic priorities.
Commercial & Market Development- Expand and optimise the customer portfolio balancing volume yield and long-term account quality.
- Strengthen the organisations market presence through disciplined pricing contract management and customer engagement.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities aligned with trade flows and market dynamics.
Operations & Service Oversight- Provide senior oversight of country operations including cargo flow coordination service delivery and third-party vendor or agent management.
- Ensure consistent service standards and a strong customer experience across all touchpoints.
- Work closely with regional and global teams to optimise network utilisation and operational outcomes.
People & Organisation- Lead develop and motivate the local leadership team fostering a performance-driven and accountable culture.
- Build succession capability and ensure organisational resilience as the business scales.
Governance & Stakeholder Management- Represent the organisation with local authorities ports partners and key industry stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local laws regulations and internal governance standards.
- Act as the senior point of contact between the country organisation and regional or global management.
Candidate Profile- Extensive senior-level experience within container shipping ocean transportation or international freight forwarding.
- Proven track record of country or large-market P&L leadership not limited to functional or sales roles.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience balancing growth pricing discipline and profitability.
- Broad understanding of maritime operations customer service models and port or agency environments.
- Comfortable operating in complex regulated markets and engaging with senior external stakeholders.
- Experience working across South East Asia or in regional roles is highly valued.
- Prior experience managing or overseeing country or regional performance linked to Trans-Pacific and intra-Asia trade lanes would be viewed favourably
- Open to non-local candidates with regional or international backgrounds.
