Job Summary

Position Title: Regional Financial Controller

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time

Primary Purpose of Role:

To manage the financial department which include the following areas: Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable Fixed Assets Taxation Treasury Payroll as well as Consolidated Balance Sheet.
Report locally and globally on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.

Manage the Forecast and AOC (Annual Operating Commitment) process and oversee audits both internal and external as well as statutory reporting and tax compliance.

The position entails planning leading organising and controlling financial reporting.

The position is also responsible for cash flow management and relationships with banks and Treasury.

Roles and Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:

Risk assessment and management:

  • Implement internal controls within the finance department.
  • Manage the implemented financial controls cross-functionally.
  • Ensure that company procedures and controls are communicated and monitor adherence.
  • Ongoing process optimization to maximize process delivery.
  • Manage and co-ordinate internal and external audit.
  • Lead audit planning meetings.
  • Communicate control and manage auditprocess to ensure business is audit ready.
  • Communicate readily with auditors during audit to minimize audit findings.
  • Manage audit findings and ensure findings are resolved on final audit report.
  • Provide quarterly feedback to audit committee on status findings

Manage the process and consolidation of all forecasting cycles i.e. S&OP quarterly annual strategic five-year plan

  • Communicate and manage timelines and instructions.
  • Compile departmental budgets for General Office Finance and Executive Departments.
  • Calculate new depreciation costs.
  • Compile comprehensive Balance SheetIncome Statement and Operating Free Cash Flow report.
  • Manage the loading into One Stream database and SAP.
  • Manage the relevant power point presentations.

Manage financial reporting monthly quarterly and annually.

  • Prepare Financial Reporting for the period which includes:
    Profit and Loss statements and variance analysis with commentary
    Monthly Control Reports (MCR)
    Monthly Business Review (MBR)
    Return on Invested Capital (ROIC)
    Strategic Business Objectives
    Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA)
    Total Delivered Cost (TDC)o Fixed Asset and Capital Report
    Selling General and Administration (S G & A) Reporting with commentary on variances
    Working Capital Reporting with commentary on variances
    Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
    Risk and Opportunities updates

  • Specific reporting requirements includes:
    Global Quarterly Reporting Pack includes reporting on tax asset register and tax calculation
    Latest Estimate Process and Upload (Full P& L Balance Sheet and Operating Free Cash Flow)
    Global Quarterly Business Review

  • Integrate financial information from direct reports managing accuracy analysing data and reporting on trends.

  • Co-ordinate and oversee the month end close and process to produce the Trial Balance with Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Manage preparation of annual financial statements.

Effective team and self-management

  • Development and performance management of reports through daily contact and regular team meetings.
  • Ensure timely execution of the excellence programme aligned with personal development plans.
  • Conduct regular one to ones.
  • Coach team to deliver on KPIs

Manage Accounts Receivable (Trade AR Farmers and Intercompany AR):

  • Manage AR team to ensure effective Debtcollection.
  • Review Age analysis on a regular basis and action on overdue accounts.
  • Dispute Management and weekly meetingswith all parties involved to ensure timeous claim resolution and credit note processing.
  • Release all credit notes in SAP to ensure that Credits processed are valid and correct documentation attached.
  • Approve new accounts as well as credit limits based on report received from Credit bureau.
  • Annual review of credit limits.
  • Review provision for Bad debts.

Manage Accounts Payable (Trade AP Producers and Intercompany AP):

  • Manage AP team.
  • Approve all Payments in Banking Platform.
  • Approve all special payment requests.
  • Review GRIR and AP age analysis Monthly (debit balances and aged items).
  • Monthly meetings with MBS team to ensure effective AP management.
  • Ensure that global process in terms of Bank Changes is adhered to.
  • Approve all foreign payments in banking platform.
  • Approve all new foreign Vendors in banking platform (Pre-Format).
  • For international inter-company transactions manage transfer pricing

McCain Farms of the Future (South Africa):

  • Manage full accounting and reporting function for McCain Foods (SA)s sole subsidiary: Farms of the Future South Africa.

Treasury

  • Forecast cash flow positions borrowing needs and available funds for investments.
  • Ensure sufficient funds are available to meet operational & capital investments.
  • Investment of surplus fund in efficient way to earn higher returns on the same.
  • Use hedging to mitigate financial risks related to the foreign exchange positions.
  • Maintain banking relationships
  • Ensure smooth flow of banking transactions & automation/improvement in the process.
  • Fund management for better cash utilization.
  • Ensure Working Capital % to Net Sales within the target.
  • Manage loans and Reserve Bank Requirements.

Tacation:

  • Manage Income Tax calculations and returns provisional and final Tax Packs etc. to ensure compliance with local tax legislation.
  • Manage Monthly and Annual returns for Vat and Payroll taxes to ensure timeous payment to/from SARS.
  • Ensure valid tax clearance certificate issued
  • Ensure valid letter of good standing with Workmens Compensation.

Other Responsibilities & Reporting:

  • Verify and sign off all Monthly Balance sheetreconciliations. Follow up on reconciling items.
  • Manage Insurance portfolio.
  • Manage Payroll Department ensurecompliance with regards to 3rd parties e.g. PAYE UIF SDL legislation etc.
  • Manage Asset register Capexprojects ensure compliance with global process as well as accounting standards ensure timeous capitalization of assets under construction. annual asset verification etc.
  • Any adhoc tasks required by1st and 2nd level Supervisors

Educational Qualifications

  • Degree: B Com Accounting Degree/ Post Graduate Dip Accounting / B Com Hons
  • Certifications: SAICA AGA(SA) / SAICA CA(SA) / CIMA / ACCA
  • Advantagous -CA
  • Min8 years experience obtained in standard costing systems financial reporting in compliance with IFRS SA Tax Treasury Internal Control and general management in a similar environment.
  • Experience in working in a multinational corporate structure would beadvantageous.
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Advanced excel
  • Knowledge of payrol
  • A comprehensive understanding of IFRS reporting.
  • Updated knowledge of the Companies Act and Income Tax Act.
