Duties & Responsibilities
Our client an established restaurant in Paarl is seeking a multi-functional and highly organized Stock Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels across the restaurants and the tasting room.
The role ensures that all stock movements including receiving storing issuing and returning goods are properly recorded and controlled in line with company procedures.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Inventory Management
Receiving and Dispatching
- Inspect all incoming goods for quality quantity and compliance with purchase orders.
- Record deliveries accurately in the stock management system and ensure that supplier documentation is complete.
- Prepare and coordinate stock dispatches to various stock locations.
- Ensure correct labelling storage and placement of goods in designated areas to maintain order and traceability.
Stock Management
- Monitor and maintain accurate stock levels for all consumables materials and supplies.
- Conduct regular stock counts (daily weekly or monthly as required) and reconcile physical stock with system records.
- Identify and report stock variances damages or losses promptly to management.
- Ensure that all stock movements receipts issues transfers are properly authorized and recorded.
Stock Management System
- Capture all inventory data accurately using stock control systems. (TallOrder and Xero)
- Maintain up-to-date and organised stock registers and stock sheets.
- Assist in the implementation of stock control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Generate periodic inventory and consumption reports for management and finance review.
Cost and Loss Management
- Monitor stock usage trends to detect wastage pilferage or misuse.
- Work with procurement and operations to optimize stock levels and reduce holding costs.
- Implement effective control measures to prevent stock shortages or overstocking.
- Support in investigating and resolving stock discrepancies or shrinkage issues.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Ensure adherence to company stock management policies procedures and health and safety standards.
- Keep accurate and accessible documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support internal and external auditors during stock verification and control assessments.
- Maintain proper hygiene and safety standards within storage areas especially for perishable goods.
Communication and Coordination
- Liaise with suppliers procurement officers and departmental heads regarding stock requirements and delivery schedules.
- Communicate stock shortages expiry risks or delayed deliveries to management proactively.
- Assist in training operational staff on proper stock handling and control procedures.
- Promote collaboration between departments to ensure efficiency inventory flow and operational continuity.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management Inventory Control or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 23 years experience in stock control or inventory management (hospitality).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for accurate stock reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail accuracy and organizational ability.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).

R20 000 R25 000 Gross
