Early Career Talent Applications Engineer (Data ScienceAutomation)

Overview:
Join our dynamic team at Western Digital as a full-time Early Career Talent engineer specializing in Data Science and Automation. You will play a pivotal role in driving productivity and digital transformation initiatives within our wafer fabrication operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects including RFID technology deployment camera-based OCR and integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and wearables to optimize wafer scheduling and operator workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement RFID sensors and camera-based OCR for real-time data capture and workflow automation.
• Interface sensor outputs with MES and wearable technologies to streamline wafer scheduling and improve operator productivity.
• Lead and support projects focused on workflow simplification process optimization and digital twin creation using RFID data.
• Contribute to the advancement of robotic autonomy and AI-driven automation in wafer fab environments.
• Apply project management skills to ensure timely delivery and successful implementation of key initiatives.
• Participate in ongoing upskilling programs including Agile Scrum and Industry 4.0 training to stay at the forefront of manufacturing innovation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science Computer Science Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis machine learning and automation.
• Exposure to project management methodologies; Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with RFID camera-based OCR MES systems and wearable technologies is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced innovative environment.

This is a full-time position and will be based in our Fremont CA office with an expectation of in-office work 5 days per week.

Compensation & Benefits Details

• An employees pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills ability knowledge of the job; (3) performance contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California Colorado New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
• If your position is non-exempt you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws.  You may also be eligible for shift differential pay depending on the shift to which you are assigned.

• You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses under either Western Digitals Short Term Incentive Plan (STI Plan) or the Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
