Job Summary

PURPOSE:

To coordinate track and document the movement of parts going to and from vendors. To transport parts from one department plant or vendor. To assure accurate and timely movement of parts through the manufacturing process. To maintain quality records invoices and packing slips in order to assure accurate records and reports are maintained to support quality documentation requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Verification Transport and Tracking:

Objective: to maintain lot integrity and part identification during movement of parts and transport parts per routing information. To enter accurate inventory and location information into Visibility and EPMS.

Typical Activities:

Verifies and matches part lots with paperwork purchase orders routing information serial numbers quantities etc. before transporting lots to next location/vendor.

  1. Checks for and assures the completion of necessary signoffs on work completion and/or routing information before transporting lots to next location/vendor.
  2. Meets with Leads to reconcile problems regarding paperwork/part inaccuracies assures communication among production departments related to product movement.
  3. Follows routers; moves parts by hand pallet jack electric jack and with fork lifts and hoists.
  4. Performs and Coordinates loading and unloading and strapping loads in of product to and from Division service centers e.g. machine shop vendors SSB1 HIP LSBS SSBO; updates computerized inventory control system to reflect locations; directly move product as needed.
  5. Moves equipment and parts as needed within the teams as needed.
  6. Makes computer entries to update the inventory and location of parts; enters transaction codes on all lot movements.
  7. Assures that part lot numbers are accurately accounted for upon return from vendor.
  8. Dispatches all jobs and moves the parts to the next location.
  9. Completes daily cycle counts; lot moves to keep accurate inventory control.

2. Housekeeping.

Objective: to maintain neat organized truck.

Typical Activities: Cleans floors sweeps aisles and keeps aisles free of parts and pallets.

3. Safety.

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Typical Activities:

a. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.

b. Safely operates all equipment and tools.

c. Identifies and reports safety problems.

4. Completes logs and records for trucks.

5. Must obtain medical card.

6. Performs other tasks as directed.

TRAINING:

  1. Training is provided on the job.
  2. PCCs Fork Lift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  3. Training in Materials Resource Planning computerized inventory control systems.
  4. Required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current and valid operators/drivers license.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years licensed driving experience.
  3. At least 21 years of age or older.
  4. Minimum of one year driving experience within 30-mile radium of plant.
  5. Previous manufacturing floor experience or dispatching experience affording knowledge of the importance of part location tracking is preferred.
  6. Previous data entry and inventory control experience preferred.
  7. Ability to follow written instructions.
  8. Ability to organize information and materials and attend to details.
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  10. Ability to organize/manage time and workloads effectively and to work independently.
  11. Experience in Visibility or an MRP system is preferred.
  12. Ability to attend to detail resolve record keeping problems and work independently.
  13. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to interact effectively with others.
  14. Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise dust chemicals temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  15. Ability to drive a truck (up to 26000 LBS GVW).
  16. Works well independently.
  17. Familiarity with GPS devises or map apps.

MAJOR PLANT DIFFERENCES.

SSBO: Dispatchers work with computerized inventory control system; requires significant computer entry.
