Job Summary

Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth families seniors and homeless prevention.

Our family shelters are safe welcoming spaces where families can stay temporarily while they work toward long-term stability. Program staff provide compassionate support life-enhancing services and community-based resources to help empower each family. Together we guide families on their journey back to independence and into permanent housing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise case work staff through weekly individual and monthly group meetings
  • Review case records and reports at least monthly
  • Direct staff interventions in difficult or crisis situations
  • Maintain and monitor program variance reports to ensure statistical goals are being met
  • Monitor program for quality assurance and contract compliance
  • Provide each staff member with monthly progress report and yearly performance appraisals
  • Assist in the development and implementation of services for clients
  • Maintain a case load and provide direct services to client including intake engagement assessment service plan development referral advocacy counseling exit summaries and follow-up
  • Interview and recommend staff for hire
  • Submit reports to supervisor monthly or more frequently as required
  • Represent the agency at meetings and events
  • Act as a liaison between BronxWorks and other CBOs the area community district and government agencies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee case management ensuring uniform quality of services and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Recruit train supervise and motivate a team of well-informed professional staff.
  • Intervene in major crisis with clients staff and agencies ensuring well-being and compliance with laws and government regulations.
  • Implement goals for relocating the maximum number of homeless families to appropriate permanent housing.
  • Coordinate an inter-agency program of comprehensive social services providing specialized mental health service.
  • Prepare social services statistics and reports for performance analysis and program planning.
  • Formulate and implement social services policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree in Social Work or related field
  • LMSW is required within 6 months of hire if not obtained as of hire date.
  • Prior supervisory experience working in a social service agency preferred
  • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers electronic mail voicemail facsimile and copier equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
