The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans population of Louisiana through the provision of medical restorative and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionateRegistered Nurseto provide first-line supervision of nursing services in either a clinical educational or programmatic setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As a Registered Nurse you will supervise activities of clinics to ensure that patients receive needed services program requirements are maintained and appropriate follow-up appointments or treatment are provided.

In this role you will also:
  • Serve as charge nurse overseeing patient care and unit staffing.
  • Supervise and direct nursing staff to ensure quality patient care and adherence to established standards.
  • Communicate and implement physicians orders and coordinate care across units.
  • Monitor patient conditions through regular rounds and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Review and oversee nursing care plans treatments and therapies.
  • Administer medications perform procedures and provide specialized nursing care as needed.
  • Support staff development through training orientation and in-service education.
  • Participate in quality assurance policy development and research initiatives.
  • Administer wound care.


Position-Specific Details:

Location: Nursing Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe Louisiana.
Appointment Type:Probational or Job Appointment
Career Progression:This position may be filled as a Registered Nurse 1 2 or 3 depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
Work Schedule: Day Shift
  • Work may involve shift work.
Compensation:This position offers hourly premium pay and shift differentials with additional rates based on the shift worked per applicable pay policies.
