Software Development Manager, Prime Video Ads

The Prime Video Ads team owns services that integrate with ad decision systems handle dynamic transcoding and stitching of ad creatives across HLS/DASH/SS streaming protocols. We run the ads business on Prime Video for svod channels live and linear content.

We are seeking a talented Software Development Manager to grow and develop a team of passionate engineers to scale up our Channels business. As an SDM you will be exposed to industry leading Publishers and ad servers as well as get to work on a lot of established as well as green field AWS technologies and design large scale backend systems. You will also be exposed to industry leading AV tech such as UHD/HDR/Dolby-Atmos 1P and 3P ad servers and gain a deep understanding of Prime Videos Live and VoD workflows.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about simple and elegant software solutions customer-centric products and utilizing agile development processes. You will look at problems holistically beyond the borders of your team and thrive on solutions that require thinking at multiple levels from strategic to business tactical to system goals to specific interfaces. You are adept at reading code and writing documents for an executive audience. You ensure solutions are reliable scalable and secure. You dont shy away from the spotlight able to coordinate cross-org meetings field difficult questions and create positive collaborative outcomes.

What youll do:

Manage and grow a team of software engineers including their projects performance and career growth
Clearly communicate project roadmaps with your team management and principal stakeholders
Work with peer managers to determine scope and estimate development effort
Lead systems design architecture and scaling discussions
Influence and adopt industry standards
Argue for the right outcomes with data conviction and diplomacy

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
