Job Duties

The NoVEL Consortium led by Norfolk State University in collaboration with Virginia StateUniversity Elizabeth City State University and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratoryencourages applications of energetic candidates to the position of Executive Director.
The Consortium seeks to prepare talented students for the STEM workforce particularly in areas relevant to the nations nuclear securityenterprise. NoVEL will achieve this goal through an intentional structured program that meetsstudents where they are and guide them to higher levels of achievement for success in STEM.
The NoVEL Consortium Executive Director will perform overall project and educationmanagement activities being responsible for

  • Working closely with the Consortium Director the Education Director university faculty andnational laboratory personnel to deliver projects activities
  • Day-to-day management of the Consortium with the assistance of a part-time educationcoordinator
  • Interacting positively with participating students
  • Assisting the design implementation and management of systems to collect store andshare information and the design and upkeep of the projects website
  • Implementing and overseeing the Consortium assessment plan
  • Coordinating the preparation of project reports including the collection of informationfrom project participants organizing information and assisting with report text preparation and submission.

Please note that this position is contingent upon external grant or federal funds. Should these funds become unavailable the position may be eliminated or discontinued.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Candidate must possess a Masters of Science in a STEM discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; Ph.D. degree is preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and advise STEM undergraduate students; experience in managing education and research programs preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
