We have an exciting opportunity based at award-winning Aquila Mine based in Middlemount QLD to join a technology focused operation with a keen eye for improvement and a purpose-led high performing culture within the site safety and health function.
The Occupational Health & Rehabilitation Superintendent reporting to the Safety and Health Manager will execute occupational health processes focused on injury management and worker rehabilitation fitness for work health surveillance and medical screening wellbeing and develop and implement key programs toward injury prevention to achieve zero harm.
The key accountabilities and responsibilities for this role include:
- Manage the full lifecycle of all workers compensation cases including engaging with insurer workers internal stakeholders medical practitioners develop and oversee rehabilitation strategies
- Oversee acute injury management provided by onsite Health Professionals (i.e. Site Medics and Injury Management Officers) and manage ongoing injury management
- Oversee drug and alcohol screening and fatigue management programs including management of non-compliance to drug and alcohol management system in accordance with set policies and procedures
- Manage onsite health services including direct supervision of onsite Health Professionals (i.e. Site Medics and Injury Management Officers) ensuring efficient and effective service delivery in line with scope of services of contract
- Present at prestart on injuries reported and status feedback on HPH/HPI injury investigations and education on health-related topics (e.g. fitness for work awareness)
- Ensure accurate reporting of injury classifications and lost time/restricted days for Month End Reporting
- Drive people development of direct reports through targeted development interventions
- Oversee the implementation of site health and wellbeing initiatives
- Conduct and participate in SMC and site audit programs
- Support compliance with external (legislative regulatory permitting) requirements
- Contribute to a purpose-led high performing culture within the site safety and health function and perform other requirements as assigned by the SHE Manager
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant Health Sciences area with practical safety experience
- Demonstrated experience in Occupational Health & Hygiene and Workers Compensation legislation
- Formal qualification or training in Risk Management and ISO accreditation
- Demonstratable knowledge of health risk management principles and implementing continuous improvement
- Knowledge of and experience in mining operations
- Strong track record with engaging with stakeholders across multiple sites and workstreams
- Ability to establish and lead a team to safely deliver work and foster a safety-first attitude and culture
