The Research Scientist – Analytical Design will support analytical research activities related to herbal raw materials and finished products. The role focuses on pharmacognostic evaluation phytochemical analysis and chromatographic techniques to ensure scientific validation standardization and quality support for R&D and product development. This position is aligned with the Analytical Design framework and supports senior scientists and managers in execution of laboratory studies.
Perform pharmacognostic identification of herbal raw materials.
Conduct microscopic and macroscopic analysis of raw herbs and finished products.
Develop and maintain morphological and organoleptic specifications of herbs.
Maintain reference herb standards and documentation.
Execute extraction and fractionation of herbal materials under guidance.
Assist in isolation of phytochemicals using column chromatography and preparative TLC.
Support classification and basic identification of phytochemical constituents.
Perform routine analysis using HPTLC and HPLC for phytochemical profiling.
Assist in method execution data interpretation and reporting.
Basic handling and exposure to GC analysis.
Operate laboratory instruments including Microscope HPTLC HPLC and GC as per SOPs.
Maintain laboratory notebooks analytical records and reports.
Ensure adherence to SOPs GLP practices and internal quality systems.
Support investigations related to raw material quality and analytical deviations.
Work closely with R&D Quality Control and Product Development teams.
Support analytical inputs during new product development and improvements.
Assist seniors in method development validation and technology transfer activities.
Qualification:
. in Pharmacognosy / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Chemistry / Botany / Biotechnology or related discipline.
Experience:
2 years of experience in Analytical R&D / Herbal Research / QC laboratories.
Freshers with strong academic exposure and hands-on laboratory training may be considered.
Strong understanding of pharmacognosy and phytochemistry
Hands-on exposure to microscopy and chromatographic techniques
Knowledge of herbal raw material standardization
Good documentation and scientific reporting skills
Attention to detail and analytical thinking
Ability to work effectively in a team-based research environment
Herbal / Ayurvedic / Nutraceutical / FMCG / Cosmetic R&D laboratories
Exposure to plant-based product analysis is an added advantage
