Job Description
The Volunteer Gwinnett Program Coordinator will coordinate with Gwinnett Serves nonprofit partners county departments residents and corporate partners to promote volunteer initiatives to include developing internal engagement opportunities corporate service projects and implementing best practices in recruitment training recognition and retention; and leading volunteer recognition efforts through appreciation events Gwinnett Serves nonprofit collaborations and promotion of key initiatives such as food insecurity programs and county-wide service projects. This position will grow and strengthen Gwinnett Serves partnerships with Gwinnett-based nonprofits businesses and community groups to expand volunteer opportunities and deliver public programming through Gwinnett Serves events outreach activities and speaking engagements. Additionally this position will manage the Volunteer Gwinnett digital platform (CERVIS) to improve user experience track participation and increase program efficiency for Gwinnett Serves initiatives; and prepare tangible program deliverables and reports which demonstrate Volunteer Gwinnett and Gwinnett Serves program success and community impact.
Essential Duties- Provide oversight and strategic direction for Volunteer Gwinnett county-wide volunteer programs and Gwinnett Serves Volunteer Gwinnetts nonprofit collaborative initiative. Ensure effective volunteer recruitment engagement and coordination across departments and Gwinnett Serves community partners.
- Supervise Volunteer Gwinnett staff oversee volunteers at food security events and ensure consistent application of volunteer management best practices across Gwinnett County Government programs to enhance effectiveness for both departments and Gwinnett Serves community partners.
- Plan and execute large-scale volunteer public and food security events including driving county-owned vehicles to transport materials setting up event spaces (including moving tables and chairs) and participating in post-event evaluation.
- Operate county vehicles and equipment to transport materials and supplies for volunteer-related events.
- Oversee volunteer management systems ensuring accurate and secure record storage impact reporting and compliance with state federal and county data retention policies.
- Build maintain and grow Gwinnett Serves partnerships with community nonprofits corporate partners and stakeholders to expand volunteer opportunities and civic engagement.
- Lead public engagement efforts including speaking engagements community outreach and public programming to increase awareness and participation in volunteer programs.
- Develop and implement volunteer recognition efforts including appreciation events and incentives to strengthen volunteer retention.
- Work flexible hours including weekends evenings and holidays to support key volunteer initiatives and county events.
- Prepare reports and analyze program data to measure and communicate impact track volunteer metrics and improve the volunteer experience through technology. Develop reporting strategies to highlight volunteer contributions and community impact across Gwinnett County Government and Gwinnett Serves partners.
Public Speaking Duties- Lead front-facing engagement and speak at major volunteer initiatives including Gwinnett Great Days of Service National Volunteer Week and service-focused holiday weekends such as MLK Day of Service to promote participation and highlight volunteers community impact in Gwinnett.
- Present at Gwinnett County leadership academies on Social Impact programs and volunteer engagement opportunities educating staff and leadership on ways to integrate volunteerism into county initiatives.
- Represent the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Impact at tabling events and government proclamations across Gwinnett County statewide and nationally. Deliver presentations that engage audiences and provide insights on Volunteer Gwinnett volunteer opportunities volunteer management best practices Gwinnett Serves programs and government operations across departments.

Grade
The grade for this position is C42(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in parks and recreation health and human services senior services nonprofit management or public administration
- Four years of recreation programming or human services experience
- An equivalent combination of education and recreation programming or human services experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Valid drivers license
