Summary
The Junior Renewables Analyst works on NYPAs Renewable Business Development team and will identify evaluate and develop new utility scale project opportunities for NYPA Renewables. This role is focused on evaluating projects being developed by the private sector for consideration into NYPAs project partnership and acquisition pipeline. Projects span across various technologies and applications including but not limited to solar wind and various types of energy storage.
Responsibilities include identifying and supporting negotiations of strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities with both internal and external stakeholders. The Analyst will also track investments across new project development initiatives.
The Analyst will work across multiple functions within the organization and responsibilities include stakeholder management both internal and external multi-functional collaborations such as with technical functions to develop solutions and others for supporting negotiations with external collaborators.
Evaluation of projects requires familiarity of the NYISO market state and federal permitting processes (SEQR ORES USACE etc.) NYSERDA offtake solicitation processes (RECs ISCs) and PPAs.

Responsibilities
- Support renewable energy generation and storage planning and cost modeling studies to inform business opportunities.
- Support Origination team with business cases for new opportunities including the commercial model alignment with policy and identification of key risks.
- Provide support for presentations for senior management proposing business opportunities and providing updates on projects in progress.
- Support Origination team in negotiations on new opportunities.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary project teams to perform due diligence and/or develop new business opportunities.
- Prepare variety of report and research on projects trends policies and stakeholder activities
- Support the coordination and analysis of new opportunities including development of planning studies siting and project financials/estimates.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Analytical abilities to think through complex problems
- Ability to support team members in the development of projects
- Proficient written oral and research skills
- Organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and external organizations from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
- Familiarity of the NYISO market and the broader energy industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint
Education Experience and Certifications
- Bachelors Degree in economics finance climate engineering or related field is required
- Prior internship experience preferred.
- Experience with clean energy technology and transmission preferred
Physical Requirements
- Up to approximately 20% travel within NY State.
- Valid government issued ID required
- Ability to attend meetings/events outside of normal business hours.
