Job Summary

Position Summary:Assists with leadership development implementation and evaluation of school-age youth child care. This includes the school year and full-day child care on early dismissal days no school days school holidays/breaks and summer program.

Qualifications Certifications and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Coursework or degree in early childhood elementary/secondary education physical education or leisure services preferred
  • Equivalent of a minimum of one year successful experience working with children
  • Background check and fingerprinting required post offer

Performance Responsibilities

Professional

  • Provide supervision of providers participants and volunteers.
  • Check attendance each session notifying parents of childrens absences following procedure book guidelines.
  • Administer childrens medication utilizing Johnston Community School District medication guidelines.
  • Be knowledgeable of and follow all Johnston Community School District Board Policies and Regulations as related to Kids Connection.
  • Be knowledgeable of and follow all DHS policies and procedures as related to Kids Connection licensing.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of child care providers
  • Assign staff duties to insure appropriate supervision of children and program activities
  • Provide leadership to staff members to ensure that established safety and conduct procedures are followed
  • Serve as role model for staff and children
  • Inform KTC On-site Coordinator or KTC Childcare Manager of staffing needs challenges
  • Arrange for substitute care providers as needed to maintain child/care provider ratios
  • Monitor and execute behavior guidelines to create positive supportive and consistent environment
  • Maintain attendance records
  • Review staff time sheets for completion and accuracy
  • Establish monitor and execute behavior guidelines to create a positive supportive and consistent environment
  • Relate and interact with children using positive reinforcement and effective communication
  • Assist On-Site Coordinator in planning recreational and educational activities
  • Prepare and implement daily activities in coordination with On-Site Coordinator
  • Knowledge of and interest in a variety of areas such as sports music arts games computers etc.
  • Complete daily childrens attendance using KTC ipads
  • Maintain a clean sanitary orderly and safe environment
  • Assist On-Site Coordinator in creating a pleasing environment
  • Help set up and put away tables and equipment
  • Assist in preparation of program/art materials
  • Report maintenance/custodial problems to On-Site Coordinator or KTC Childcare Manager
  • Cleanup buildings and supplies as assigned
  • Leadership skills in directing childrens activities
  • Greet children and parents as they arrive
  • Communicate childrens behavior concerns with On-Site Coordinator and parents as needed
  • Attend staff and in-service training meetings as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of childrens records
  • Accurately use time clock and attendance management program
  • Remain knowledgeable about program policies and procedures
  • Understand and implement information on childrens enrollment records
  • Provide supervision of participants
  • Use P-card for purchasing and follow all guidelines.
  • Must be available for basic hours of 6:15-9:00am and 2:00-6:00pm. Other hours assigned as needed for program. Must be available during extended hours on early dismissal late starts and holiday break spring break and scheduled no school days. Summer hours will be 8 hours/day between the hours of 6:15 am and 6:00 pm

Hours

  • 33-40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday; 6:15 - 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on student attendance days during academic year
