Purpose

The Compliance Analyst contributes to the overall success of theReal Estate DepartmentinCanada CA and PACcountriesensuringcompliance relatedinitiatives areexecuted/deliveredin support of the teams business strategies role involvesensuringall activitiesconducted are compliantwith governing regulations internal policiesand procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Performs due diligence checks (Including World Checks andS&PCredit Checks) on Third Parties and escalateshits accordinglyfor PEPs Terrorists Sanctioned Entities Individuals with Criminal Activity (Theft Fraud Drug Trafficking) that requires furtherinvestigation among the team businesspartnersand GAMLU.

  • Assistswith continuous improvement of programs processespoliciesand tools to meet regulatory requirementsand internal controls.

  • Reviews critical project documents on the Project Reporting System collaborates with Project Managers toidentifyand rectify discrepancies and ensures all necessary documents are accuratelycaptured on PRSas per TPRM guidelines

  • Evaluates leasedocumentswithin the Build system for compliance.Engages with Leasing Managers to address any deficiencies and ensures all leases meet internal standards as set by the TPRM team.

  • Liaiseswith various Control Functionsof the bankandexecutesrecommendedcontrolstomaintaintheir Concurrence for Real Estate Departments Due Diligence exceptions.

  • Providestraining and support to International Real Estate Groups on compliance matters as applicable.

  • Preparesquarterly reports for all Real Estateleasesand projects(including consultants contractors) thatcaptureinformation related to financial commitments to Third Parties andsubmittoTPRMteam as per the established timelines.

  • Manages andmaintainsmanuals onRealEstate Departments InternalSharepointto make sure they areupdatedtimelyby the respective custodians.

  • Continually reviewsandaddressesany issues associated with Audits including documentationprocessesand due diligence to ensure Real Estate meets Global Compliance Standards.

  • Supportsthe Compliance Manager on existing and new Compliance related activities for thedepartmentincluding requests fromtheBanksGlobal Compliance teams.

  • Understandshow the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations oftheirrespective areasin accordance withScotiabanks Values its Code ofConductand the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Championsa high-performance environment andcontributes toan inclusive work environment.

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships andleveragebroader Bank relationshipssystemsand knowledge

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • 3years of relevant experience in the financial services industry within Compliance Audit Risk Management Function and/or related field
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
  • Outstanding Written and Verbal Communication Abilities for managing diplomatic relationships
  • Excellent teamwork interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills

Working Conditions

  • Standard office-based environment. Hybrid with expectations to be in the office three days per week
