Job Summary

Senior Business Analyst Finance Systems (Insurance & SQL)

What is in it for you:

Salaried: $53 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $60 per hour.
7-month contract.
Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
In-office days: Monday to Wednesday in Markham.

Responsibilities:

Analyze and document business and functional requirements for finance systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and prioritize system enhancements.
Perform gap analysis and create detailed functional specifications.
Ensure system compliance with insurance accounting standards and best practices.
Work alongside business teams to understand needs and propose customer-focused solutions.
Support the development of strategy and improvement initiatives for finance technology.
Participate in testing validation and troubleshooting of finance system features.
Develop and run SQL queries to support data analysis and validation.
Deliver training and support to end-users for new or updated system functionalities.
Prepare reports presentations and updates for internal stakeholders.
Monitor system performance and propose technical solutions to resolve issues.
Stay informed on industry technology trends and participate in ongoing learning and development.

What you will need to succeed:

Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Information Systems or a related field.
Relevant certifications in Business Analysis Accounting or Financial Systems (e.g. CBAP CPA) are considered assets.
5 years of experience as a Business Analyst working on Finance Systems within the insurance industry.
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and regulatory requirements including IFRS17 OSFI GISA Facility Association and GAA.
Proficiency in Guidewire modules such as PolicyCenter BillingCenter or ClaimCenter.
Familiarity with mainframe constructs in finance systems.
Solid knowledge of ETL transformation processes in data integration.
Advanced SQL scripting skills.
Experience with Oracle and Postgres databases.
Strong data analysis capabilities including understanding data impacts on P&L and Balance Sheet.
Proficient with data modeling process mapping maintaining data dictionaries and creating user stories.
Skilled in business requirement gathering and documentation.
Proficient in Visio PowerPoint Excel and Word.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
