In this position...

The Research & Advanced Engineering Propulsion Systems Electrical Engineer will develop integrate and test innovative advanced electrified propulsion systems and technologies for future electrified position entails working collaboratively with Ford internal and external teams including Systems Engineering Software/Controls Component D&R and power electronics suppliers to design and develop components to support innovative advanced electrified propulsion systems. This work includes vehicle breadboard development component prototyping HV/ LV vehicle architecture design and in-vehicle commissioning and troubleshooting for future electrified vehicles.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Develop HV and LV requirements to integrate new powertrain componentsand test next-generation electrified light-duty medium-duty and heavy-duty advanced electrified vehicles.
  • Work closely with systems engineers to scope workstreams for powertrain integration work and new technologies.
  • Design of HV and LV electrical architecture power distribution and vehicle CAN/LIN network communications voltage compatibility load analysis and device transmittals.

  • Lead design reviews and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting commissioning in vehicle and testing of next generation electrification prototypes supporting ongoing development and testing at various Ford facilities.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Related engineering disciplines with work experience also considered.
  • 2 years of working experience in HV and LV architecture design schematics vehicle build and in-vehicle service.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive test equipment like oscilloscopes insulation test equipment multimeters and field service/ crimp tools.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and hybrid powertrain architectures.
  • Experience using problem solving tools and methods to find root cause and solve problems related to vehicle build commissioning and testing

Even better you may have...

  • 5 years of experience in power electronics design and development with a focus on automotive applications and leading projects from concept to production.
  • Expertise in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for power electronics and Ansys Maxwell for magnetic component design and EMI/EMC analysis.
  • Experience using CAN development tools like CANalyzer CANoe and Davinci
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and global electrification regulations (SAE UL IEC GBT).
  • Experience with in-vehicle electrical diagnostics and commissioning work.
  • Familiarity with electrified vehicle controls and calibration strategies

  • Experience using data acquisition systems data processing and analysis for design development and validation of propulsion systems

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering new technologies to vehicle programs

  • Strong communicator with ability to effectively present to technical audiences.
  • Team player comfortable working in a diverse group in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starting with solid follow-through and multitasking abilities; able to work with limited supervision.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8 .
