Job Summary

The Office of International Education which is part of DUs Internationalization unit serves primarily undergraduate students interested in education abroad term-length programs. The OIE manages a portfolio of over 150 programs in 52 countries and advises roughly 1000 students/year who are interested in participating on DU Partner Programs and/or unaffiliated programs.

Position Summary

The Office of International Education (OIE) is hiring a program manager. The successful candidate will be independent self-motivated and an exceptional multi-tasker. They should also be familiar with all aspects of education abroad management and advising and comfortable with multi-tasking and balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

The position is responsible for advising on a large portfolio of programs and offering a full range of student services during all stages of the study abroad process for prospective outbound and returnee students. The Program Manager also promotes and coordinates study abroad program activities for assigned study abroad programs. This includes managing student recruitment advising application enrollment and pre-departure orientation; re-entry engagement; and program assessment and evaluation.
The Program Manager provides management for an education research and/or operations program/project recommending goals assessing feasibility and ongoing performance and providing day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for day-to-day education abroad functions and serves as a primary advisor for education abroad program portfolio
  • Schedules and conducts pre-departure and returnee workshops and orientations for participants.
  • Responsible for application management for education abroad participants via office software (Terra Dotta)
  • Assists in advising for education abroad scholarship resources/sources.
  • Promotes education abroad on-campus through education abroad events resource fairs social media and classroom presentations.
  • Serves as a liaison to affiliated education abroad partners on and off campus.
  • Mentors education abroad student assistants and volunteers.
  • Ensures activities are in compliance with the industrys concepts practices and procedures and keeps abreast of best practices and trends in education abroad.
  • Processes transcripts for returnees.
  • Occasional requirement to work evening or weekend events throughout the academic year to participate in events on campus.
  • Occasional travel to off-campus meetings professional conferences or program partners may be required.
  • Other duties and projects assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the field of international education & advising students with education abroad opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively and productively with dynamic and diverse groups of faculty staff and students.
  • Experience and skills in developing implementing and managing projects and business processes; ability in problem identification reasoning ability to develop original ideas to solve problems persuade others and lead.
  • Strong interpersonal & intercultural skills.
  • The value of self-motivation and initiative to seek out work and drive to accomplish goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience in the field of international education & advising students with education abroad opportunities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a broad community of other international education administrators university staff and administrators faculty program managers and host institution administrators.
  • Computer skills and software program knowledge including Terra Dotta software and/or related and office support desktop tools
  • Knowledge of higher education administrative practices and procedures student records and international education systems.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms as well as tools for scheduling posts in advance.
  • Experience living studying or working abroad.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • 4 or more years experience in international higher education
  • Experience supporting exchange faculty-led or customized study abroad programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating academic records.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is low to moderate.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to use a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Rate

The salary rate for this position is $58000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
