Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures in an offsite nuclear laboratory setting. This role includes operating and maintaining nuclear imaging equipment preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and educating patients and families about procedures. The technologist ensures compliance with all applicable safety standards policies and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Operate test and maintain nuclear medicine equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Prepare calculate and administer radiopharmaceuticals following regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families regarding nuclear medicine procedures expectations and safety precautions.
  • Verify patient identity review clinical history and ensure proper documentation prior to procedures.
  • Monitor patients before during and after procedures responding appropriately to patient needs.
  • Maintain accurate records including dose administration imaging documentation and quality control logs.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with radiologists physicians and interdisciplinary staff to support diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and competency requirements to maintain certifications.


Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Required
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear imaging procedures radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety
  • Excellent patient communication and education skills
  • Ability to work independently in an offsite laboratory environment


Education: Bachelors Degree Required

Certifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification Required
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification Required
