Job Summary:
The Network Operations Support Technician is a full-performance level role focused on monitoring and maintaining the States LAN/WAN networks. This includes point-to-point wireless campus VPN and agency host computer configurations across statewide multi-complex networks for both voice and data circuits. The technician will work as part of a 24/7 operational support team including weekends and holidays on a 2nd shift schedule (4pm-12am).
Location:Montgomery Alabama United StatesnWashington District of Columbia United States
Responsibilities:
- Monitor network alarms alerts and faults responding promptly to ensure service reliability and availability.
- Maintain and update records including incidents requests problems configuration items change requests and resolution details.
- Analyze State Data Network using reports from network management systems databases and spreadsheets to identify and address equipment or service issues.
- Initiate trouble reports and corrective procedures to involve appropriate maintenance or technical support personnel.
- Participate in shift work including weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 operational support team.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience with LAN/WAN maintenance and support.
- Minimum 1 year of call center or service desk experience.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience or knowledge of voice and data circuits including troubleshooting and research.
- Familiarity with incident ticketing systems.
- At least 1 year of systems analysis or service desk experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- CompTIA Network Certification.
Special Considerations:
- Must be able to work 100% on-site in Montgomery AL.
- No remote work allowed.
- Must be able to convert to merit system at the discretion of the hiring manager.
- Must pass a standard background and ALEA check.
Scheduling:
- 2nd shift: 4pm-12am.
- Shift schedule: Monday through Wednesday (10-day shift) then 4 days off 5-day shift 2 days off then repeat.
- Must be available for shift work including weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 operational support team.
