Job Summary

Description

The Information Technology department is looking for an IT Project Manager I to join their team. This position will play a pivotal part in bridging IT and facilities operations by coordinating closely with facilities partners to help mitigate delays and technical risks related to IT infrastructure particularly networking and systems integration during capital and renovation projects. Their involvement ensures that funding is optimized across departments and that cross-functional dependencies are proactively managed; reducing rework and improving delivery outcomes.

Effective December 31 2025 there will be a general salary adjustment of 4% to the minimum and maximum of the range.

Location and hours:

This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings trainings or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable.Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Based on business needs of this position hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.


About the position type:

This is a full-time benefit earning position. You must be acurrent regular or probationary employee of the Information Technology (IT) department to apply for this position. Note: limited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position you will:

  • Manage capital projects.
  • Provide IT coordination for facilities capital projects including cost schedule and performance on intersection with IT and networking.
  • Actively engage with senior management to ensure project success.
  • Provide cost estimates for capital projects during annual CIP efforts in collaboration with the network team.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to determine best solution for requested project work.
  • Act as general liaison between IT and Facilities Services department.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Four years or more of IT experience.
    • Approved Hennepin County IT internship and three years or more of IT experience.
    • Completion of five college/vocational technology courses and three years or more of IT experience.
    • Associates degree in one of the fields below or an approved certification in an IT program or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and one year or more of professional IT experience.
    • Bachelors degree or higher in business administration management information systems (MIS) or in an approved related field.

Nice to have:

  • Three or more years of experience working with capital projects.
  • Experience:
    • With CIP process and liaison work between IT and Facilities Services department.
    • Working with network devices and/or IOT devices.
  • Ability to:
    • Work with teams and contributors to make valuable progress on identified or assigned projects.
    • Build positive working relationships with co-workers teams and stakeholders.
    • Interact with clients and staff with tact discretion and sensitivity.
