An established Joint Commissionaccredited rural hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy operations and clinical services. The Director of Pharmacy plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safe effective and compliant medication management while supporting organizational goals staff development and evidence-based clinical practice.
Position Overview
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall leadership administration and operation of the pharmacy department. This includes clinical oversight regulatory compliance staff management budgeting and quality improvement. The role ensures pharmacy services align with clinical legal ethical and organizational standards while supporting high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
Direct and manage all pharmacy department activities to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
Develop implement and evaluate departmental goals policies and performance standards.
Oversee daily operations including patient care delivery service levels and issue resolution.
Integrate evidence-based practices into pharmacy operations and clinical protocols.
Staff Management
Plan hire orient train evaluate and develop pharmacy staff.
Manage scheduling performance reviews corrective actions and continuing education.
Foster a professional environment that supports growth accountability and collaboration.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards (e.g. Joint Commission HIPAA state and federal pharmacy laws).
Coordinate and lead internal and external audits.
Maintain quality assurance and medication safety initiatives.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
Current Utah Pharmacist License (active and in good standing).
Bachelors degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy school.
Demonstrated leadership experience in hospital or healthcare pharmacy operations.
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance medication safety and clinical standards.
Excellent leadership communication and decision-making skills.
