Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is accountable for identifying pursuing and securing new client opportunities that contribute to Linguavas growth. Reporting to the Director of Business Development this role manages the full sales cycle including prospecting discovery presenting and closing. The BDM develops strong relationships with prospective clients collaborates with internal teams to design tailored solutions and ensures new opportunities align with Linguavas mission and service standards. By consistently demonstrating Linguavas core values the BDM helps expand Linguavas impact and build long-term client partnerships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through close
- Prospect qualify and develop opportunities in assigned markets and segments
- Deliver compelling proposals and presentations that reflect Linguavas capabilities and brand standards
- Negotiate agreements within established pricing and margin guardrails
- Track activities opportunities and progress in the CRM with accuracy and timeliness
Client Acquisition & Relationship Development
- Build relationships with decision makers and influencers at prospective client organizations
- Use a consultative approach to understand client needs and demonstrate Linguavas value
- Represent Linguava at conferences networking events and community forums to expand market presence
- Collaborate with Marketing to leverage campaigns events and content for outreach and lead generation
- Develop relationships with new clients that lead to strong lasting partnerships
Collaberation & Account Transition
- Work with Client Success to support client onboarding and ensure expectations are clearly communicated
- Collaborate with Language Services leadership to confirm delivery capabilities align with client commitments
- Coordinate with Account Managers to ensure a smooth handoff once a client is closed and onboarded
- Share client and market insights to help inform strategies and improve team effectiveness
Forecasting Reporting & Metrics
- Maintain accurate forecasts through disciplined use of CRM and sales processes
- Monitor activity levels conversion rates and sales cycle times to ensure predictable outcomes
- Provide regular updates on performance pipeline health and market opportunities to the Director of Business Development
- Identify risks or gaps early and take corrective action to stay on track with revenue goals
Professional Conduct & Representation
- Represent Linguava with professionalism integrity and client focus in all interactions
- Communicate clearly and consistently with colleagues to promote alignment and collaboration

Qualifications
Education Certifications & Licenses
- Bachelors degree in Business Marketing Communications or related field preferred
Professional Experience
- 5 years of experience in business development sales or account management
- Proven success generating new business and meeting revenue targets in a service organization
- Experience in healthcare language services or related industries strongly preferred
- Familiarity with long-cycle consultative sales and multi-stakeholder decision processes
- Experience working in language services industry strongly preferred
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of business development strategies sales processes and pipeline management
- Knowledge of proposal development pricing approaches and contract structures
- Understanding of client relationship management and consultative sales approaches
- Familiarity with healthcare or language services industry trends

Physical Cognitive and Sensory Demands
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
- Ability to analyze information manage competing priorities and make timely thoughtful decisions
- Close vision required for computer use and for reviewing proposals contracts and dashboards
- Frequent verbal communication in meetings and video calls and clear written communication skills
Work Schedule & Availability
This is a full-time position based on a standard business schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Occasional flexibility in start and end times may be needed to accommodate business needs. Primary work is performed on-site at the Portland office with the option to work from home in accordance with company hybrid-work policies. Ability to travel (<20%) for client meetings conferences and industry events is required.
