Position Type: Part-time adjunct
Semester: Spring 2026 (January 2026-May 2026)
Compensation: $825 - $975 per credit based on adjunct faculty rank (determined by education and experience)

Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach one or more Education and Teacher Education Conversion Program (TECP) courses.

Course Details:

Sample courses for spring are below:

  • EDU 211: Reading and Language Development-Focuses on assessing and addressing student literacy skills. Students will learn about the language development process and demonstrate their ability to use a variety of assessments to identify the language skills and needs of individual learners. Using data driven collaborative decision making students will plan appropriate interventions. Research-based methods for teaching phonics vocabulary spelling fluency reading comprehension and writing will be explored. Students will learn how to guide readers and writers in developing effective strategies for reading writing speaking and listening. Authentic evidence-based differentiated instruction linked to the common core standards will be emphasized. (and comparable TECP67 C)

  • EDU 210C: Cross-Cultural Education Seminar -- Offers candidates a professional forum for researching reviewing and discussing socio-cultural contexts and topics in language teaching and the course candidates will develop a broad-based understanding of cross-cultural education and discover appropriate practices and techniques for the multi-cultural classroom. The course is a requirement for all Education candidates. (and comparable TECP 69C)

  • TECP90C: Supervised Student Teaching/Theory Practice and Methods/Materials in ESOL Education
    Designed for those candidates who have not held a previous teaching license. Students document their work in the school including planning teaching and consultation and aiding with transition issues. This is a semester-long field-based course designed to integrate and apply previous course work in ESOL certification. Students assume the full range of teaching responsibilities while supervised in the field. Seminars meet weekly throughout the semester. Students document their student teaching or practicum hours. This course also focuses on communicative interactions between and within different culture groups. We will explore issues related both to effective cross-cultural communication and to miscommunication. An examination of how ones own cultural values and norms affect and guide intercultural interactions will guide class discussions and projects. Concepts such as power distance hierarchy uncertainty avoidance non-verbal communication and other intercultural communicative features will be explored and ethnocentrism stereotyping and other value-based judgments will be addressed. (Prerequisites: acceptance in the ESOL Conversion Program completion of the previous ESOL coursework and department head approval. Candidates enrolling in TECP 91
    hold a teaching certification.)

  • TECP91C: Practicum Methods/Materials and Culture in ESOL Education
    This is a semester-long field-based course designed for those who already hold a teaching license and are adding an endorsement to integrate and apply previous course work in ESOL certification. Students document their work in the school including planning teaching and consultation and aiding with transition issues. Students assume the full range of teaching responsibilities while supervised in the field. Seminars meet weekly throughout the semester. Students document their student teaching or practicum hours. Program Description:
NHTIs Education degree program allows students to gain a broad-based teacher education preparation with hands-on practical experiences in the field. NHTIs Teacher Education Conversion Program is for students who already hold a bachelors degree and want a license to teach mathematics science special education or English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitate class discussions assignments and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in education or related field.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience and experience with learning management systems.
  • Residency: Must reside in NH VT ME MA CT or RI.
