Duties and Responsibilities


  1. *Provide administrative staff support for the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR) Fiscal Office as an assistant fiscal administrator.
  2. *Responsible for approval and posting of accounts receivables and payables and addressing issues or discrepancies with requisitioners or appropriate system offices.
  3. *Reconcile accounts regularly and monitor account balances informing the Fiscal Manager and/or Principal Investigator of potential issues (i.e. Projected deficits unallowable expenditures etc.).
  4. *Provide staff support in procurement including review and approval of requisitions purchase orders travel requests & completions departmental checks and p-card transactions in accordance with Federal State and UH policies and procedures.
  5. *Provide staff support in contracts and grants management to include assisting with the development of project budgets establishment of accounts review of allowable expenditures and preparation of financial reports.
  6. *Participate in training sessions for faculty and staff on fiscal topics.
  7. Assist with providing administrative support to CTAHRs shared services team as needed.
  8. Assist with providing administrative support to CTAHRs Human Resources Department as needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in arts humanities sciences or business administration or a related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for fiscal and/or personnel administration; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in accounting demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with accounting.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the accounting.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. Demonstrated ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications.



Desirable Qualifications


  1. Some experience working in the University of Hawaiis fiscal environment.
  2. Familiarity with the University of Hawaiis policies and procedures.
