Job Summary

The Clinical Trial Distribution Manager is responsible for the end-to-end strategic planning and operational execution of Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) distribution for global clinical trials. This role serves as a critical bridge between Clinical Operations Quality and Supply Chain ensuring that life-saving medications reach trial sites across all phases while navigating complex international regulatory and customs requirements. You will lead the setup of distribution concepts oversee external partners and manage the technical integration of Interactive Response Technology (IRT) for shipment triggers. Beyond logistics this position carries significant quality responsibility requiring the independent analysis of temperature excursions and the management of deviations and CAPAs within a highly regulated global quality system.

Skills & RequirementsTechnical & Regulatory Skills
  • Global Logistics Strategy: Expert ability to develop and optimize international IMP distribution strategies across all clinical trial phases (I-IV).
  • Compliance & Customs: In-depth knowledge of international regulatory legal and customs regulations specifically regarding import/export for pharmaceuticals.
  • IRT Configuration: Experience designing and implementing Interactive Response Technology (IRT) for depot structures resupply logic and shipment triggers.
  • Quality Systems: Proficiency in reporting processing and closing deviations and CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions) within a formal Quality Management System.
  • Temperature Management: Technical ability to analyze and assess temperature excursions related to specialized pharmaceutical logistics and storage.
Operational & Leadership Skills
  • Stakeholder Integration: Ability to act as the primary distribution lead within a cross-functional CTSU Trial Team (Clinical Ops Supply Chain Quality).
  • Vendor Management: Experience overseeing external Distribution Partners (DPs) to ensure strict adherence to service level agreements.
  • Clinical Development Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the clinical development process and product-specific quality properties.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to independently classify and document complex deviations and complaints in specialized IT systems.
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Science Distribution Management or a related field.
  • Professional Background: Several years of specialized experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on international clinical IMP supply.
