Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Part Time Public Safety Officer - Gate Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals on the premises. Big Canoe POA is currently recruiting for a Part Time Gate Agent Attendant. The primary responsible for this position is enforcing rules and regulations of the Big Canoe community. The Gate Agent Attendant must be familiar with the rules and regulations of the Big Canoe Property Owners Association. This position must provide access control services inside Big Canoe.
Responsibilities
In assuring the overall safety and security for the Big Canoe Community the Gate Attendant is assigned to the access control gates is responsible for the following:
- A). Follow strict POA access-control procedures.
- B). Effectively communicate using telephones computer and 2-way radio.
- C). Monitoring the entrance and exit of all property owners guests contractors and delivery services.
- D). Pretest and affix RFID transponders to authorized vehicles including property owner guest contractor POA employee and government vehicles.
- E). Receive all telephone calls and dispatch patrol as needed in the absence of the standard dispatcher position.
- F). Initiate a TENS call for BCERT assistance when requested.
- G). Issue passes to all guests that have been approved by owners and/or long term tenants having a lease.
- H). Issue day passes to approved contractors delivery and service providers.
- I). Investigate and prepare accident reports occurring at the gates.
- J). Keep the guard house clean sanitized and organized.
- K). Maintain a professional personal appearance.
- L). Provide exceptional customer service and assist property owners guests & contractors in a courteous professional manner.
- M). Reset gate operators router and video recorder when necessary.
- N). All other duties assigned by the Access Control Supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
Public Safety Officer -I must possess:
- A basic knowledge of computers (internet e-mail etc.)
- Effective oral and written English communication skills
- Ability to proficiently spell words in English
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to multitask when required
- Active listening skills
- Ability to assess evaluate & process situations effectively
- Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Ability to be attentive to details involving names addresses procedures and events
- Ability to enforce with confidence POA rules and regulations
- Ability to read Big Canoe map and provide clear directions to a destination
- Ability to follow job related instructions and accept constructive criticism
- Ability to follow the Public Safety Chain of Command
- Ability to work as a member of the Public Safety team
Physical Requirements and Environment
Indoor and outdoor environment with temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat. Major activity is walking standing speaking listening observing and occasional stooping or bending.
Must possess the following abilities.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to walk for long periods of time or for great distances
- Ability to hear well enough to understand normal conversation without voices having to be raised or constant repeats
- Ability to see properly or correctable to departmental requirements
- Ability to speak in a normal voice or in a raised voice (yell) if it is necessary
- Ability to use both hands and arms legs and feet normally or without difficulty
- Ability to speak read write and comprehend the English language without difficulty
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and have a clean motor vehicle record and must be 18 years of age. Public Safety Officer - must be authorized/ eligible to work in US. Public Safety Officer -I must have access to reliable transportation. Must be able to pass a drug test.

Pay: $14.50 per hour
Schedule:
- Shift 7am - 12pm Monday - Friday
- Weekends as needed
