Paid Internship Description:
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) is a bi-state agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey. It owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin Walt Whitman Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges which are four major bridge crossings of the Delaware River. The Authoritys transit subsidiary the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) operates a two-track rapid transit line between Philadelphia Pennsylvania and Lindenwold New Jersey.
Program Description: The hourly rate will be $19.00/hr.
The DRPA/PATCO is seeking to hire college studentsfor the 2026 summer hourly rate for most administrative intern positions is $19.00. While former summer interns are welcome to apply past employment as a summer intern does not guarantee that you will be selected for an internship during summer 2026. Students who wish to apply for a summer internship must meet the following criteria:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment evaluation which includes drug (including marijuana) and alcohol.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation conducted by a third-party vendor.
- Submit an official school transcript with the raised seal documenting that you completed at least one year of undergraduate studies (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 - 24 credits).
- Submit official school documentation confirming that you will be enrolled in an undergraduate studies for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester on a full-time basis (12 credits).
- Must be able to commit to working full-time (40 hours per week which includes a paid lunch hour) for 12 weeks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for compliance with established insurance requirements with guidance and oversight
- Assisting in the development and documentation of insurance requirements for contracts procurements and other projects
- Supporting the presentation of insurance and risk requirements at pre-bid and pre-proposal meetings
- Using Driver History Forms to direct a third-party vendor to run Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews
- Assisting with reviews of MVRs in accordance with our organizations Fleet Safety Program
- Analyzing injury and incident data to identify trends and prepare summary reports
- Providing administrative and analytical support during the annual insurance renewal process including data gathering and organization for use in completing applications to be submitted to insurance carriers
- Drafting and updating existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal guidance documents
- Creating and updating PowerPoint presentations handouts and training materials related to risk management topics
- Updating the departments intranet page with clear accurate and informative content
- Conducting basic research on insurance risk management and safety topics as assigned
- Supporting special projects related to enterprise risk management and recommending best practices
- Participating in meetings taking notes and preparing follow-up summaries or action items
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned to support departmental goals
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Intermediate skill level in usingMicrosoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
- Interns must attend an accredited college/university including a community college (junior college)
- Home residence must be located within DRPAs Port District which includes (Bucks Chester Delaware Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania and Atlantic Burlington Camden Cape May Cumberland Gloucester Ocean and Salem counties in New Jersey).
Preferred:
- Coursework or academic interest in risk management insurance safety or related field
- Some exposure to reading insurance policies reports or data through coursework projects or prior internships
- Experience navigating A.M. Best Rating Tool
Work Location: One Port Center located in Camden NJ
Work Hours: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM Monday Friday including a paid lunch hour.
