Introducing the Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport (TALS) a home-grown initiative led by the Tasmania Football Club in partnership with TasTAFE AFL TasmaniaTasmania JackJumpers Hobart Hurricanes Netball Tasmania and Stadiums Tasmania to nurture the States next generation of talent within the local sports industry.
Role Purpose
The Student Success Coordinator plays a key role in delivering an outstanding student journey for participants of TALS. This position coordinates work-integrated learning activities and fosters strong connections between students and sports industry partners enhancing engagement retention completion and career readiness.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Student Experience Coordinator will oversee the planning delivery and evaluation of work-integrated learning and student engagement initiatives. Key accountabilities include:
Student and Industry Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison for students providing guidance on work-integrated learning opportunities and career development.
- Actively connect students with TALS industry partners ensuring meaningful engagement and collaboration.
- Maintain open communication with students addressing inquiries and collecting feedback to improve the student experience.
Work-Integrated Learning Coordination
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and secure work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Manage the student placement roster to ensure all participants meet program requirements.
- Track and report on student placement hours and other work-integrated learning deliverables.
Program Support and Administration
- Plan and organise guest speakers facility bookings and other program-related events or sessions.
- Coordinate student uniforms and logistical elements such as ticketing meal vouchers and reimbursements.
- Organise start-of-study orientation and end-of-study celebrations.
- Develop and execute student networking events to connect participants with potential employers.
- Support marking and assessment work as directed and if qualified.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with external organisations to expand work-integrated learning opportunities.
- Act as a key point of contact for industry partners including; the Tasmania Devils AFL Tasmania the Tasmania JackJumpers Netball Tasmania Stadiums Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance program delivery.
- Identify and support promotional content to showcase student activities and achievements during classes and work placements.
Additional Duties
- Provide regular updates to program staff including daily check-ins with course Educators and participate in weekly team meetings.
- Undertake ad hoc projects as required including supporting after-hours and weekend activities during peak periods.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Tertiary or vocational qualification in Business Education Sports Management or a related field (preferred).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtain.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing complex schedules.
- Demonstrated success in planning and delivering events or engagement activities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively while achieving positive outcomes.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting student learning and wellbeing.
- Previous experience in the training or higher education sector.
- Background in the sports industry.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and organisational proficiency.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM systems.
- Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
Reporting Line
- The Student Experience Coordinator reports directly to the Head of Education in
- Hobart and Senior Manager of Education and Business Development in Launceston.

Additional Information
- You may be required to travel and work across the region at times.
- You will be required to complete a period of probation of six (6) months.
